Volunteer Spanish Academy Home
I had always wanted to study Spanish and travel to Latin America so I chose Spanish as an elective in my business degree to get ready for Guatemala. Not only have I found studying Spanish at your school extremely fascinating and fun, but also very practical, listening to Spanish music, reading in Spanish or just reflecting on what I learned. I have met many great people through my stay in Xela, whether they are teachers, students or host family. Initially, I really only believed that I would be learning Spanish, but all my experiences in Guatemala have incorporated cultural studies, linguistics and history, and have really broadened my perspectives and knowledge of not only Guatemalan culture, but of my own culture and language.
